Family Movies - The Last Sanctified Genre?

Technically speaking, family movies can be classified as practically any rating
type, even R! However, for the most part, G movies and PG movies are usually
deemed where the vast majority of family movies reside.

In today's 'reality based social environment', are movies becoming too edgy as
as a norm. in terms of overall production or is that much to do about nothing?
Many of us grew up on family movies where everyone would encircle the television
or inhabit the movie theater together.

It is and was, a great way to spend quality family time together and experience
extraordinary cinematic storylines that were transcending and substantive!
However, our vision of family movies has skewed as of recent and movie
promotions have placed movies that are anything but family friendly, into this
light.

This is a crying shame as this style of movie is seemingly the last sanctified
genre that is being threatened by poor promoting and media channels. Movies
like the 'Wizard of Oz' are timeless family movies that will never be replicated
but the state at which family movies are categorized has become less than
accurate.

In order to keep movie categories defined and not bleeding into each other, the
movie production industry needs to quit making movies 'on the fence' that lure
the viewer into thinking it's family friendly when it's really not!

Of course, this is the minority of cases but it does tend to taint the entire
category when many of 'suspicious family categorized movies' put a poor lighting
on this landscape as a whole.

Nevertheless, the connection families generate amongst each others when viewing
these types of movies is very strong. This is why these quickly diminishing
'movie dinosaurs' are so vital in society altogether. It's not so much the
family based movies as it is the time it allows families to spend together that
is important!
